Frequently asked questions
Do I need a partner?
No, you can come on your own, with friends or with a partner. The teaching method ensures that dance partners are rotated during the classes.
I've never danced with a partner before, and I've got 2 left feet !
Don't worry! Modern jive is like anything, you need to be taught before you can do it. When compared to other types of partner dance, modern jive is quick and easy to learn. There is no complicated footwork and don't forget our crew will answer any questions, dance with you and ensure that you're completely happy.
Who will I dance with?
The culture at modern jive venues is that everybody asks everybody to dance. People will only decline if they're 'danced out' and then they will often find you later for the dance they missed.
What type of music is played during the night?
Various tracks are played from the 40s up to present day chart music. All musical tastes are catered for and we try to please everyone.
What do people wear?
As for clothes, anything goes. Come casual or dress up, which ever makes you feel comfortable. As for shoes we recommend you avoid trainers and wear something with a smooth sole.
What about drinks
At our Dover venue there is a licensed bar that sells, tea, coffee a range of meals and of course alcoholic drinks, Part of our hire agreement for the venue requires that none of our guests bring their own food or drink into the venue.
